The finishing touches can add opulence to your soft furnishings.
Bows, rosettes, tails and trumpets can be added to tie backs, pelmets,
valances, bed drapes and curtains to add that little extra personalisation.
A valance or pelmet added to the top of your curtains or blinds
can not only hide an unsightly track but can enhance the finish
of your window treatment.
Pelmets are made by padding a shaped buckram base layer, covering
with fabric and attaching to a pelmet board to give a tailored look.
We have instructions on making no sew pelmets as well as the traditional
way of sewing them.
Valances like curtains are gathered across the width and hung from
a rail or board to give a softer finish to your windows. A balloon
valance, sometimes known as a cloud or pouf valance, is a simple
unlined treatment for small windows or teamed up with café
curtains.
A simple scarf valance is a length of fabric draped across the top
of your window between hooks at each corner.
For a more formal look swags and tails are the ultimate window top
treatment.
Tiebacks can be purely decorative as well as being used to hold
your curtains back during the day. There are many designs and we
have covered gathered, heading tape and traditional.
All these accessories can be made to match, coordinate or contrast
with your colour scheme.
These free illustrated sewing instructions will enable you to make
your own window drapes accessories. |
